Lip Balms are my friends.

June 17, 2010

Just like the title says, Lips Balms are my friends. I carry them everywhere I go and I always have one on hand because there is nothing more annoying than flaky dry lips. I’m not talking about Chapstick or probably most of those that you grab last-minute at the check-out counter. I’m talking about natural, organic lip balms that actually hydrate your lips and improve them. Below are a few of my favs, but if you have one in particular that you can’t live without, I’d love to hear what it it is!

1. Caudalie Lip Conditioner: What I like about this is that it has soothing anti-oxidents and anti-aging benefits. And since you’re lips are always out in the sun and exposed to the harsh weathers, it’s important to keep them hydrated.

2. Soothing Lip Balm by Origins: I know, I know.. it’s a little pricey at $15 a pop, but it’s well worth it. I keep this one in my bathroom and apply liberally before going to bed. I love that it has shea and cocoa butters and the texture is just a little bumpy. Plus, it always makes my lips feel wonderful!

3. Yu-Be Lip Therapy: Yu-Be is an made from an old Japanese cream formula that is moisturizing and made from glycerin and Vitamin E. What I really love about this formula is that it doesn’t contain sulfates, parabens or phtalates and is pretty affordable. For $5, you really can’t beat this quality product!

Clean your make-up brushes!

July 9, 2008

The other day I was waiting to go to a party and I was walking around union square and slipped into their sephora to buy an the eybrow kit, Brow Zings from Benefit (this is the best kit every, BTW). I started talking to the very helpful sales person and I ended up spending $150!

I didn’t know that you had to clean your makeup brushes every week! My makeup brushes were like 6 years old and every cleaned, but 2 times, hehe. So I vowed to be clean and bacteria free and bought this kit. It’s a great buy at only $44 bucks and you get the essentials. All I needed to by to accompany this was an eyeliner brush for $12. What a bargain. I urge you to clean your brushes often and if it’s been too long, just toss them. It’s not work the eye bacteria. EWW.

bare minerals.. it really works!

December 10, 2007

I know you’ve seen the infomercials for Bare Minerals makeup – I mean, who hasn’t? They play it over and over and over. Well like many people, I was very skeptical about purchasing another expensive piece of makeup that didn’t really do the trick. I needed some new concealer and in an effort to get out the rain yesterday, I took shelter in Sephora. I’ve tried Benefit’s concealer but it was too pasty and didn’t go on as smooth as I wanted it bare.jpgtoo. Then I bought Stila (comes in a tube) and I though that was too liquid-y and it made my face shiny in certain spots, then when I’d put on powder, it would just darken those spots.

Yesterday I tried Bare Minerals concealer and let me just say that it works! It goes on like a cream but beacause it’s a powder it is very smooth and easy to apply. It does a GREAT job covering it up any blemishes and it’s not messy at all. I have very dry skin and this did not make it look dry! 2 thumbs up! Highly Recommended!
