Steve Madden Sannibel: On Sale!

July 6, 2010

Nothing says summer to me, more thanย a pair of white, sophisticated sandals. Maybe it’s just the color white – I associate it with lounging in the Bahamas or Jamaica. I guess it’s because white really brings out your tan and since you’re on vacation you really don’t care if you get it dirty of not (that’s the sensible side of me coming out).

Anyway, I think I may have to snag a pair of these. Throw ’em on with a pair of jeans or wear it with your favorite summer dress. I don’t have to go to the Bahamas or Jamaica, but it’s definitely a way to bring them into my everyday life.

And yay, they’re on sale at Steve Madden!

Staying Fashionable Without Going Broke!

November 4, 2009

With the recession in full swing and the holidays coming up, saving money is probably one of the first things on our mind. But saving money doesn’t mean you have to compromise on your look and style. In fact, there are tons of ways to keep your great style all while looking chic and stylish. These tips are only a few money-savers that will help you through these hard times.

  • Don’t buy anything piece of clothing that’s so unique, you’ll only want to wear it once. Instead, buy classic and solid colors. You can mix and match almost anything without a pattern and tie it together with some unique accessories. Accessorizing is key to making your outfit different from the day before. Plus, it’s much cheaper to get a new necklace then an entire outfit.
  • Check the SALE RACKS! Especially at stores like Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue, if you’re a hardcore designer shopper. Usually around this time, they have great sales going on so you can still keep your designer style at heart while saving your wallet. (Note: Also take advantage of Black Friday – the BIGGEST shopping day of the year!)
  • Re-Make Your Clothing. Sites like Threadbanger.com offer endless tips and ideas to refashion something you already have into something new. If you don’t have any clothes worthy of cutting up, hit up your local GoodWill or Salvation Army.
  • Shop the expensive stores, buy from the cheap. Usually a lot of the cheaper clothing stores like Forever21 have very similar if not, identical versions of expensive designer clothing. If there’s a MUST HAVE item, shop the more affordable stores first. Splurge when we’re out of the recession.
  • Shop Online and Use Promotional Discount Codes. Online shopping makes it so easy to spend a lot.. and save a ton too! Look for discount codes by typing in the store name + promo code or discount code into Google. You can easily find coupons for most stores for a percentage off, free shipping or sometimes a free gift. Totally worth search.
  • Make Homemade Gifts. Hit up your local craft stores or bake your friends and family members a tasty original treat that they can share. It’s the thought that counts, not the price-tag and the holidays are about sharing, right?
  • Trade With Friends. Need a new cocktail dress for your work holiday party? Raid your friends’ closets and have them do the same. It’s totally free and you’ll both get something new to wear out of it. I even recommend trading items of clothing that you’ve just outworn and are tired of. in 6 months, that old piece of clothing will seem new again and you can trade back!

If I missed any tips that you’ve been practicing during this recession, let me know in the comments!!

I got a deal at Banana Republic!

October 20, 2008

I’m usually not an impulse buyer but yesterday while walking by Banana Republic I saw this jacket and I had to have it. I didn’t fit into a size small (too big) and extra small was too small. Also the jacket was $250. After searching and searching and 2 stores later, I found the same jacket in the petite section of another BR. I quickly grabbed it. Turns out that up until yesterday they had a 30% off outerwear sale! When my jacket rang up at the register it was only $175…then of course I had to open up a BR credit card to get the extra 20% off and I got it for a grand total of $140. Boy, am I proud of my purchase.

Also when I signed up for the new card, I got a coupon book and here’s a tip, for all the online shoppers, use the promotion / coupon code NEWCARD for GAP, Old Navy or Banana Republic for an online 10% discount.

My Favorite Wifebea… Uh.. Boyfriend Tank.

May 24, 2008

I’ll admit, I’ve gone through my share of wifebeaters. Cheap ones, cheaper ones, expensive ones.. and these are my favorite for these reasons:

  1. The low-cut-ness of the scoop neck is perfect, not too low, but very flattering
  2. The material does not stretch out after many wears so you don’t have to wash after every use
  3. The colors are HOT!

*These tanks come in a variety of different colors and are only $15.50! They’re on sale!

Ahh, shoes!

April 25, 2008

I just bought an awesome wedged brown leather heel, with a slingback strap from Navid o Nadia. I went online to find other shoes by this company because they are really comfortable and I found this pair. AHHH, on sale for $19.95 from $60 bucks. I’m not going to tell you where but I’m sure you can find them. What color do you like best?

my very expensive cheap weekend and why I love online shopping

March 31, 2008

Hello readers-

Well this weekend was awesome. I didn’t go out at night and I didn’t really do much of anything – no cab rides, expensive dinners, or late night cab rides. FYI, my boyfriend wasn’t in town and I didn’t really feel like braving the cold at night by myself. I did, however manage to frugally spend a good deal of cash. And by frugally, I mean…. I hit the jackpot. Here’s how I did it.

I went shopping at American Eagle on Saturday afternoon. I love this store because it’s so fun and summery and they have such cute “hanging out” clothes and beach clothes. I know I don’t live near a beach, but a girl can still purchase, right? This is what i bought.

How cute is this set? I am a sucker for pink and hearts and well I’ve been drooling over this cute set for ages. Everytime I went into American Eagle, I would ALMOST buy it, but just didn’t. Then it went on sale when I was out of town and when I went back in, my size was gone. Luckily I bought it online and got a 20% savings using a discount coupon code. (Just google “store name discount coupon code” and you can always find savings). Also, the bra is on sale online but not in the store. This is why I love shopping online.

0466_2231_700.jpg

I also bought these shorts which are only available online. Cute for hanging out at the beach, cute for walking around and super fun! Another reason why I love online shopping. They come in dark blue… but the yellow are much more fun!

Let me tell you how lucky I was with this dress. I was browsing through Forever21 on 34th street and I spotted this dress that was misplaced on the first floor amongst the madness that is Forever21. I quickly grabbed it up because its so adorable and then I looked at the price tag -$13.50. YES folks, that’s cheaper than some cabs in New York. Hell, that’s cheaper than a bagel at Murray’s Bagel Shop on 6th Ave.ย  So I search for a size small somewhere in the store and see what other colors this comes in. Turns out that the section that they house these dresses in was closed for the day (WTF??). I decided to take my chances and try it on. Jackpot. It fit perfectly… and that’s how I got a bargain.
