PRODUCT GIVEAWAY: Totally Bamboo African Congo Board

July 2, 2010

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to give away a vanity, but instead, the cool folks over at Cookware.com have offered me a better giveaway for my readers. Of course, I said yes, because you guys are the ones who keep this blog alive. So as a little Thank You, and hopefully just in time for summer BBQ’s, I’d like to offer this fantastic cutting board by Totally Bamboo.

Now, you’ve probably seen them around town in your local stores, and it just so happens that I have a kitchen full of Totally Bamboo products. They made of 100% bamboo (hence the name) and they hold up really well to knives, all types of food and make for a great presentation. I use mine to serve cheese and crackers at parties. I’ve gone through many other cheaper bamboo boards, but nothing stands up to my heavy cooking as great as these. I cannot stress how much I love these, which is why I’m super stoked to give one away to a lucky reader!

WHAT YOU WIN: One Totally Bamboo African Congo Cutting Board

HOW TO ENTER: Just leave a comment below saying why you should win by July 18, 2010.

HOW YOU’LL KNOW IF YOU WON: Leave an email and I’ll contact you the week of July 18th, 2010. If I don’t hear back from you withink 24 hours, then i’m movin’ on to the next person!

Good luck to everyone! 🙂

P.S. a little bit of info on the eco-friendliness of bamboo boards (From the Totally Bamboo website)

o    100% Renewable resource, the millennium’s new “wood”

o    Bamboo is harder and denser than most hard woods, it is16% harder than maple, which is the most common wood used for most cutting boards.

o    After harvesting, bamboo grows back and can be re-harvested every 4 ½ years.  Bamboo does not need re-planting.  Most hardwood have a 30 to 60 year growth cycle.

Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Serum – Is it any good?

June 18, 2009

org_09GH_awrd_lrg

I am one of the millions of people who suffer from eczema. It’s not too bad at times, but I always get flare ups in the face. Because of this, I’ve taken a liking to all natural skin care products. The lady at the Origins counter swore by this stuff from Dr. Andrew Weil. It’s a face serum that’s made specifically to combat inflammation from a blend of Hypsizygus ulmarius, Cordyceps and Reishi Mushrooms, Ginger, Turmeric and Holy Basil. It’s not cheap as it’s $66  for 1.7 fl. oz.

HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS? I would LOVE LOVE LOVE some feedback!

The best blender since sliced bread

Vitamix

My mom just bought a Vita-Mix Blender and I can’t wait to get it in the mail. The Vita-Mix is the blender that a lot of professional blending places use like Starbucks or Jamba Juice because they are strong enough to hold up customer after customer. This blender isnt’ cheap and will run you around $400 each, but well worth it. It can make soup, ice cream, sauces, heat stuff, cool stuff, etc. You don’t have to prep the fruit when you throw it in, it blends up all the seeds and stems so you don’t eve know you’re eating them! The reason I want to get one is so I can make fruit/veggie smoothies and I can’t wait.

Do you have one? What do you think of it?

Hey Celebs, Recycle those paper cups!

October 22, 2008

Almost in every picture that you see a celebrity, you see them with a starbucks mug. Now I don’t know – maybe it’s just trendy to have that overpriced mug in their hands, but how about buying a reusable mug from Starbucks so you don’t have to waste paper? Celebs are always talking about saving the planet yet they waste waste waste! Here’s an idea, reuse. Can you imagine all the paper cups that could be saved? I got this Hawaiian Starbucks mug as a gift earlier this year and I’ve literally gotten stopped on the Subway by New Yorkers asking me where they can get it. You can buy it on eBay for $16. It’s well worth the money.

If you are like me, you LOVE candles. Not only do they look beautiful in a room, but they smell great! I am always looking for the best candles around town and I may have just found them.

I just received a shipment of candles from Way Out Wax (based in Vermont), and upon opening the box the sweet aroma filled the entire office (they work without even burning them!!). These are from the aromatheraphy line. Currently I’m burning the “Clear Head” candle. Infused with Eucalyptus, Peppermint and Rosemary, your sinuses will be cleared stat, which is good for the holidays when everyone is getting sick.

Looking for new candles? Here are a few reasons why you should go with Way Out Wax:

  • 100% biodegradable (hey, we’re all going green, right?)
  • 100% soy way (they burn CLEAN! and last longer.)
  • 100% quality and satisfaction guaranteed

So check out their website for gift baskets, clean air sprays and even non – scented candles if that’s your thing! If you purchase anything on the site, use the coupon code ‘URBAN’ for a 15% discount, valid until Dec 31st.

And if you want to pick them up in a store, check your local Whole Foods grocery store. Happy shopping!
