March 30, 2007

I spotted this girl walking around the streets of the ‘once fashionable’ NY City. And I have 3 words for you: ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!?!?!

David Beckham: Sports Style Icon

March 30, 2007

If you didn’t already hear that David Beckham has signed a $250 million dollar 5 – year deal with the L.A. Galaxy, then now you know. Him and his lovely wife Victoria Beckham and family will be moving to the U.S of A later this year. But before he’s even packed his bags and boarded the plane, he is all over magazines as a male style icon.

I think he’s a great dresser so maybe other sports stars will take notice and start dressing up a bit. Not only does he have nice clothes, he kicks ass on the field. That’s already a double threat! So watch out for David Beckham to take the reign as the most badass and fashionable dresser in the sports world!!!

Versace fashion heiress is anorexic!

March 30, 2007

Allegra Beck Versace who is the 20 year old daughter of Donatella Versace is in serious condition after battling anorexia for the past year.

“Our daughter Allegra has been battling anorexia, a very serious disease, for many years,” Donatella Versace said in an attempt to stop the rumors.

Ms. Beck Versace inherited 50% of the Versace fortune on her 18th birthday from her uncle Gianni Versace.

You’d think with all that money, you could buy yourself some food, just kidding. Well at least a nutritionist and a conscious that recognizes you look like a walking skeleton and that’s not hot. She needs to come back to reality and eat something …. seriously, she’s WAAAAAAAy to skinny!

Banana Republic outfit for under $100!

March 30, 2007

With the incredible sale going on at Banana Republic, we can put together a fabulous outfit for under $100 bucks. Here’s what I’d buy:

Beaded fringe teardrop earrings for $14.99. I love wearing earrings, always adds a kick to the outfit… and I love gold!

Twist Neck top in Indigo for $13.99. Such a simple top can allow you to spice up your outfit with over the top shoes and earrings, which is just what I’d do in this case.

Indigo low rise boot cut jeans for $29.99. Jeans are standard and a must have for any kind of wardrobe. It gives the outfit a laid back comfy look!

Nautical cork platform wedges for $39.99. I absolutely love these shoes and the stripes make them extra unique. One great thing about wedges is that they are SO easy to walk in! Definitely a bargain!

March 27, 2007

Next time you visit New York City, be sure to hit up St. Mark’s place and visit The Sock Man! They’ve been in the East Village since 1983 and they specialize in all sorts of cool socks ranging from knee highs, toe socks, tights… you name it, they’ve got it!

Fashion Trend: RECYCLE!

March 26, 2007

The only thing better than being in style is to be in style while helping the environment! And now you can — These fabulous Cambodian Recycled Rice Bags are awesome. Not only are they stylish, funky and edgy, but at the end of the day you can feel great about saving a tree!

Unlike many mass produced accessories, these have not been cobbled together in some disreputable sweat shop; they have been skillfully crafted in Cambodia by an organization providing shelter, education and employment to vulnerable women.

And last but not least, don’t be afraid to use this as an oversized purse, beach bag or book bag. So before you go shopping, make sure to get youself one (or a few) of these!!!

Pattern overload!

March 26, 2007

Here’s a fashion tip: DON’T mix patterns. If you are wearing an overbearing pattern, such as the plaid shown in this picture, stay away from another form of plaid. And on top of that, don’t pair it with a crazy neon patterned hoodie. First off, don’t wear that hoodie with anything — it’s a recipe for a fashion disaster. Overall, this outfit is waaaaay too busy; it’s an example of a pattern overload!

(Note: Plaid is not bad, in fact its a great pattern — try wearing it with solid colors instead!)

How to be a model.

March 25, 2007

My first reaction to this book was, “Wow they made an entire book on how to not eat. Incredible” (***sarcasm***). To my suprise Roshumba actually shows you how to create a portfolio, break into the modeling business, how to dress like to pro and of course, apply makeup.

The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Being A Model has some substance and its sitting on my desk at work, so while I eat my hamburger at lunch, I can learn how to walk the catwalk!!!

From Geek to Chic.

March 25, 2007

I love this shirt. First off, I like guys who are a bit geeky with a side of cool. This shirt is definitely a good mix of both. The simple striped polo gets revamped. It’s a perfect fit for pretty much any guy. And if you have some old polo tees, its time to get out the stencils and spray paint and do-it-yourself!!!

Kirsten Dunst looks like a vampire.

March 24, 2007

Kirsten Dunst has been known to play vampires in movies, but little did we know that she likes to look like a vampire in her spare time as well. Hell, she likes to look like a vampire while modeling on the cover of W magazine. Quick, someone get me a wooden stake!!! What happened to the quality control on such a high fashion magazine like this one? And how did this bad fashion misshape happen? Her hair is hideous, her skin is practically see through and I won’t even get into her makeup. Does anyone else think this is a total disaster????

Style Icon: Rachel Bilson

March 24, 2007

I think we can all agree that Rachel Bilson’s got great style and generally looks fabulous in anything she puts on. I’ve compiled a few articles of clothing to mimic the ever so fabulous Rachel Bilson look!

Long cardigan sweater from…$59.50

Levis cut off 501 boyshorts available at Urban Outfitters…$68.00

Fashion is not a luxury. It’s a right.

March 22, 2007

Ladies, she brought us Sex and the City and now she’s bringing us her own clothing line… and for modest prices!

Sarah Jessica Parker presented her new clothing line, Bitten, at a private launch last week in New York City! She is selling the line to the popular chain, Steve and Barry’s. This means that you gotta hit up a Steve and Barry’s to be able to purchase these clothes. And if you live in NYC (like me!) you can head on over the New York’s Manhattan Mall. Prices will range from $7.98 to $14.98. What a steal!!! The collection will include jeans, lingerie, casual wear and accessories.

But don’t rush out quite yet, the collection won’t hit stores until June7th.

Sticks and Stones can break my bones…

March 21, 2007

And bad fashion will also hurt me…. check out these pictures.

And I thought the Marilyn Manson look was well on its way out in the late 90’s. Apparantly Tara Subkoff is trying to bring it back. Her “Imitation of Christ” was welcomed with gasps as the crowd caught of glimpse of the models as they strutted down the runway with glitzy goth glam, deep dark colors and surrounded by bones last night at Smashbox Studios in Culver City. Yup, there were bones scattered all over the runway. Some of the models were wearing silk dresses adorned with daggars of course, and some even had patches covering their eyes and spray painted a nude color.

Are you kidding me? For some reason images of bad 80’s movies come to mind. Someone needs to tell Tara Subkoff that just because she’s a fashion designer that doesn’t mean that she can debut a ridiculous clothing line of hideous fashion and make people think that it looks cool. Because let’s face it, if enough people succumb to her goth-ish death fashion, we might be reliving “Night of the living dead” all over again.

My top 5 summer picks from Urban Outfitters!

March 20, 2007

After searching through Urban Outfitters in the West Village this weekend, I’ve compiled a list of what I think are the best summer must – haves!!! And if I missed anything or if you have a favorite, PLEASE let me know!!!!! Here goes…

1. A good pair of shorts for the summer is definitely something that everyone should have. These particular shorts have a great pattern for a more sophisticated look. And to top it all off, they are on sale for a whopping 20 bucks!

2. A fun tote is something that I would make sure is in my summer accessories must haves. Its great for the beach, hikes, and outdoor picnics. Not to mention the bright fun colors!

3. This dress is fun, chic, sleek and sexy. Its casual, yet dressy enough that you could throw on a pair of heels and a cardigan. I love dresses because its so easy to just throw on and in record time, have a completed pulled together look from head to toe!

4. I absolutely love big jewelry… it totally overcompensates for boring outfits — and this is a great way to spice up those boring winter outfits and make them fun, yet simple!

5. Simple, yet elegant, this yellow tank is perfect for the summer. Its flowy enough so your skin can breathe during the hot winter months, its bright yellow — a color that screams summer, AND it has some lace trim which automatically puts it in the “going out clothes” category…. which mean versatility! You get your money’s worth with a top like this!

ThreadHeads: Cute Kitties and The Big Stitch!

March 17, 2007

If vintage fashion is what you like but can’t afford the prices, head to the Goodwill Store. Rob and Corinne give us some tips on what to look out for at Goodwill, and how to turn just about anything into a fashionable item!

Then, grab your tissues, because you will laugh so hard you just might cry at The Big Stitch, Thread and Banger’s first epic drama!  Two thumbs up!!!

Carmen Electra take a dive on the runway.

March 17, 2007

This past Wednesday at a Max Factor fashion show in San Francisco, Carmen Electra took quite the fall as she walked from the runway. But she wasn’t the only one. Days of Our Lives actress Ali Sweeney followed soon after. The was a charity even that was raising money to help out children’s charities.

This is probably the funniest thing that’s happened in a while on the runway. It’s one of top reasons why I’ve never decided to pursue modeling — Well along with the fact that I like eating and also I’m only 5’2″. I guess no one told them about the hairspray on the heels trick, eh?

Lindsay Lohan looks hot.

March 15, 2007

Yes, I’ll admit, when Lindsay Lohan isn’t dressed like a hobo, showing her crotch in public or looking like a crack addict, she actually cleans up quite well.

More props to her – this dress is fabulous and she looks very put together and sophisticated. See? This is what a stylist can do to you! Go Lindsay, you look hot!!!

High Waisted Pants are ugly.

March 15, 2007

Someone call the fashion police. I’m serious. Major designers are playing a joke on the innocent fashion hungry people; they are telling them that high – waisted pants are in style. We’ll let me be honest with you. High waisted pants didn’t look good in the 80’s and most definitely DON’T look good now. I don’t care if you’re 5’8″ and weigh a mere 115lbs, you still look fat in these pants.

No one should have to suffer and waste their money on this ugly trend. Spend your money one something else more worthwhile — hell, treat yourself to a tall nonfat, no sugar added, with soy, vanilla latte. At least you won’t become a fashion victim.
