Wedding Dresses…. So many styles to choose from!

August 5, 2013

T-minus 5 days until I am officially in my first wedding… as a bridesmaid. Yep, my best friend is getting married. It got me thinking – when you plan a wedding, where do you even BEGIN to start searching for a wedding dress? Bridal magazine covers litter the aisles of Barnes and Noble and the grocery store, but I never stop to look or even give it a glance. I guess that’s probably because I’m so far from marriage. Anyway, back to my point. I spent some time looking up different styles on and here’s what I found.

1. Not all dresses are white. Mind blown. Like this one. This dress is actually very elegant and a little vintage-looking if you ask me. It’s a nice style – not really my type, but I know would look great on some people.

2. Some wedding dresses look like ballet recital outfits. Short. Sweet. Great for dancing in, but not traditional at all. I do like the skirt on this… This is probably something I’d want for a reception. And the best part is you could probably wear it again!Image

3. Some dresses make you feel like a princess. Now this is something that I could get behind. I love this dress because it’s a little over the top but just perfectly elegant enough. It reminds me of the little figure on top of a wedding cake. If this doesn’t scream wedding, I don’t know what does.

Dress for Vegas… what do you think?

March 29, 2011

I am heading to Vegas to meet up with some old college friends and from the email back and forth, everyone seems to be getting a new dress to wear out on the town. I don’t want to spend a ton of money on a new dress, but want something new for the occasion. What do you think of this cowl neck dress from Forever 21? Too business-y?

Which Christmas Album Would You Buy?

November 12, 2010

I absolutely love Christmas & the holidays. I could listen to Christmas music year-round. Which is why it’s so hard to choose between which album I want to buy. Jessica Simpson, The Glee Cast or Mariah Carey’s. I think I should buy all three. If you have one of these albums, which is your favorite?

Winter Is A-Coming.

November 11, 2010

It’s that time a year when you wake up in the morning and think, “what’s the weather going to be like?” Especially LA weather can be so unpredictable — 80 degrees one day then 50 degrees the next. Which is why I always keep a jacket on hand when I go to work. You never know what the office weather will be. And let’s be clear — I don’t take a JACKET… just a light coat that will keep me warm, yet not be too bulky or make everyone think I’m about to leave for the day. If you don’t have a work-type jacket, don’t fret. Head to J-Crew! Here are some of my favs:

1. Tweed Harriet Blazer: Sophisticated, put-together and can be work to work or even for a night on the town. Need I say more?

2. Double-drape Justine Jacket: This one is a little less work-looking and more trendy. Chic and very flattering due to the cut, this coat is a winner at work or anywhere you get cold!

3. Merino Necklace Cardigan: For all of you who just want to go cas’ and cashmere… then this one’s for you. Simple and super comfy, with just a touch of sass. Perfect for work and even dinner with your parents… or dinner with a date!

O.P.I to the rescue!

November 8, 2010

Out of all the nail polish brands that I’ve tried, I have to say O.P.I. is definitely my favorite. And here’s why – they have a wide array of colors, the brush in the nail polish is flat, allowing an easier paint job, the hilarious color names, the polish lasts long and did I mention ALL of their colors? My new favorite color is called “Don’t Know… Beets Me.” It’s a hot pink – the middle color on the top row. Absolutely love it. Can’t wait to wear it throughout the holidays!

Rachel Bilson's Many Hairstyles… Which do you like best?

November 7, 2010

Rachel Bilson is no doubt a fashion icon. She’s brought back the Wayfarer trend and now she’s rockin’ two toned hair. Now usually when someone has two-toned hair its probably because they were too lazy to go back to their hairstylist and get their hair re-dyed. Hell… even Drew Barrymore has signed on to this trend. And, lucky for you frugal people who don’t want to do that — just leave your hair… it’s now a trend. So, now I’m going to throw it to you — Out of all her fab hairstyles, which is your favorite? Are you digging the new two-toned trend?

A Perfect World doesn't include dry skin

November 7, 2010

The winter season is slowly creeping upon us and that mean dry skin, dry lips, dry hair. Well I am not going to get in to all of them in this single post, but the most important of the three is definitely dry skin. There are a lot of creams you could buy at CVS or Rite Aid, however, not all of them smell great. I purchased “A Perfect World” from Origins last year and it’s taken me an entire year to write about it. I still use it (sparingly since it’s pretty pricey) when I get out of the shower for a fresh scent (the scent is from the White Tea, but it smells more like peach) and lasting moisture throughout the day.

It’s great for people who don’t want a heavy perfume smell, and are allergic to fragrances. Since the smell is from the organic ingredients, you really have nothing to worry about. Plus the White Tea is great  to keep your skin smooth and firm. The shea butter is great to combat dry scaly skin. Overall, a win-win situation!

Bracelets are the perfect accessory.

November 3, 2010

I am going to be posting a lot about accessories in the next couple weeks because I’m attending a wedding.. the first one that I’m actually in (doing a reading) in a couple weeks, and of course, my outfit has to be perfect. I’ve 2 perfect dresses, which I’ve posted previously, and all I need are some accessories to complement the dress. ShopNBC has some really great bracelets – many of which would fit the occasion, however this one is my favorite. This sterling silver bracelet has pearls that would match with the pearls on the dress. I posted it in the peacock color, because the white, which is the one that would match the best, didn’t show up very well in photos. And as good luck would have it, it’s on sale!

If anyone has any bracelets or any other accessory that would fit with the dresses, let me know!

Tadashi Ruched Matte Jersey Dress

November 2, 2010

I have purchased this Tadashi Ruched Matte Jersey Dress sight unseen and I’m nervous. Well, for $300, I should be right? I fell in love with this dress about a month ago and have driven all over to find a place where I could try it on. Unfortunately Nordstrom doesn’t carry this dress on the West Coast. I know, just my luck, huh! So I bought it and am getting it shipped to me. So excited! But, now I need shoes… any ideas?

Lea Michele: Style?

November 2, 2010

It’s no question that the producers of Glee have made Rachel Barry (Lea Michele) out to be a quirky, controlling, perfectionst. And, her style totally reflects her personality. But when Lea Michele steps out onto the red carpet, she has a completely different demeanor. She’s not only slimmed up for Season 2, but she is glowing and her wardrobe reflects a new Lea. I love her laid-back, yet dressy style. Many of her outfits consist of simple dresses that could easily be dressed down just as she’s dressed them up for the red carpet.

Badgely Mischka Platinum Label Navy Dress

November 2, 2010

I am in a wedding in a few weeks and had been pining over the dilemma of NO DRESS! I wanted to find something long and elegant, yet that matched with the “fall colors” that everyone else was wearing. My boyfriend’s kind mom sent me this amazing dress by Badgely Mischka. Now, I, for one, don’t own really any designer dresses. In fact, I can hardly say “Badgley Mischka” without sounding slightly drunk. However, this dress looks amazing. I’m having a tailor take it in a couple sizes since it needs to fit perfectly (and was slightly large when I received it). Any accessories that you think might go with this? Send ’em my way!

Louboutins . Worth the red sole?

October 18, 2010

It wasn’t until about 3 years about that I really started to notice the Christin Louboutin trend. Yes, I agree that these are elegant and probably very comfortable shoes (I can only make a guess since I don’t own any), but is the red sole really worth the price tag? These pastel pumps are pretty darn cute… and knowing they come with the brand name makes them just that much better. Though, if I did get a pair of Loubs, you bet they’d be the patent leather black Very Prive. One day…. just one day….

What's your ultimate wedding dress?

October 6, 2010

I feel like nowadays people are taking chances with their bridal gowns. They aren’t picking traditional styles like they used to be. Long, beaded, embellished. They are fun, flirty, and most importantly shows off the Bride’s style. These gowns below range from casual and fun to elegant and graceful. It’s really great to see designers make such a wide variety of styles for Brides to choose from and with so many choices, there’s no doubt that you’ll be able to find something to fit you personality from you wedding. If you’ve been married or are getting married, tell us about your wedding dress! Was it long? short? white? off-white? Post it in the comments! Thanks!

Tadashi Ruched Matte Jersey Dress.

October 1, 2010

So as you all know I am a sucker for dresses. This one so happens to be a Tadashi dress which I am currently in love with. No, I haven’t tried it on yet, but it looks so beautiful that I’ve been admiring via the web. The ruching is all in the right places and the fabric falls so freely, yet is snug enough. Perfect for a wedding, huh? The problem is the $300 price tag. Looks like I might have to try eBay…

Bridesmaid Dresses: A perfect style for everyone!

September 17, 2010

I have a couple friends who are getting married in the next year and all of them seem to have the same dilemma. You would think location, guest list or cost would be part of the problem, but NO! It’s the bridesmaid dresses. One of the hardest part of finding a bridesmaid dresses is finding a style to fit all kinds of shapes and sizes. And since you’re essentially asking them to pay for it, you should try to find one that they will actually wear again. That’s being a considerate bride, and they will be sure to thank you later for that :)

Something casual like this dress above is a great find. Not only is a darker jewel-toned color great for most skin tones, but it’s classy and has a touch of decoration. Plus it comes in an array of colors!

This dress above is more of a flirty style and the cut is also great for most body types. Not to mention the color. I love this red. It’s so bright and vibrant! And a good thing about this color is that it’s great for both summer and fall weddings.

What are some of your suggestions for bridesmaid dresses? Have you ever been a bridesmaid – what was your most/least favorite part about your dress? Leave your answers in the comments!

Eyeliner is a must-have, but which do you use?

September 16, 2010

I’ve tried the liquid eyeliner, eyeliner in a pot, wet/dry eyeliner and eyeliner pencil (twist and sharpen kinds, of course), and after all of my trials and tribulations with it, I’m still on the fence about which is the best. If I have time, I absolutely recommend Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner. It has a smooth finish and lasts all day. Not to mention the damn thing lasts forever! But let’s face it – when we’re rushing out of the house in the morning or even applying in the car (which I don’t recommend), we want something fast, right? What’s your go-to eyeliner? I’d like to find something that’s on the reasonably side price, however long lasting and quick to apply.

The Ultimate Heel

September 16, 2010

Need a classic heel to wear to work? On a date? To a wedding? This is the perfect elegant heel.. and quite affordable too. What’s great about this shoe is the high backs that give a classic, unique touch to the heel. The color also is nude enough to not take away from an outfit, yet it will go with any color. That’s why is a great staple shoe for many occasions. And get this.. it’s under $100 from Aldo!

Two-Toned (Multi-colored) Hair…. ummmm

September 16, 2010

What do you think of this hair? I’ll tell you what I think. It looks lazy. It’s like they just don’t care about touching up their roots. I admit, I’ve been a victim to two-toned hair before, but mine was obviously done on purpose. Drew’s hair actually looked like she just let it grow out. I’m not sure this style will grow on me, but I’d love to hear your thoughts!

A belt totally matters…

August 18, 2010

I feel like a lot of people overlook accessories. But accessories can really make or break an outfit. If you’re running late for work, throw on a pair of cute earrings and boom, you have an instantly new outfit. The same goes with belts. Belts totally matter. One belt can make an array of different outfits from things you already have. And let me tell you, they are way cheaper than a new outfit. I love this skinny belt from Gap. It’s not only a great accessory, but it has some pizzaz to it to spice up any outfit. Be it a work outfit or a first day. This is perfect belt all around!
