The chat starts at 7am PST / 10am EST and we’ll be covering all kinds of topics from frugal fashion tips, food, home decor and lot of other stuff! If you have a twitter account, all you gotta do is go to TweetChat and type in the hash tag #beanchat. See ya there!
I love this trend because headbands are so fun. Well, I haven’t wore them since 5th grade, but I am determined to get some cute feather headbands. They can make just a regular jeans and tshirt getup look fancy and flashy.
Anyone know of cool places to buy some? What do you think of the trend?
Ok Ok, I know that Valentine’s Day is way over and I hope you had a great one. Here’s a sweet tour that you might actually love if you love chocolate like me. Sweet Walks in NYC gives tours of places that sell the finest and most amazing chocolate is definitely on my list to check out in NY before I leave. Check out the full blog post on TMI Weekly!
Remember the Happy Socks contest back in December? I was giving away 4 pairs of socks to the person who left the best comment. Well after much review, David Lok won and here’s his pic with his awesome new Happy Socks!
Here’s his winning response: “
I deserve to win because I’ve been stuck in the Thome Browne universe a bit too long. Suit pants that hangs above ankle with dress shoes minus socks really don’t work so well this time of the year. What better way to cure my no sock blues with these dashing Happy Socks.
Thanks a bunch!”
And just so you know, David, you look stunning in your new socks!
I know many people have been waiting for this day for quite some time. So in honor, here’s a video from Threadbanger.com that shows you how to make some rad Obama gear. Plus check out this link for a roundup of a ton of handmade goods, like the one below!
I’m working on a new blog called Subject: Orange. The goal is to have tons of healthy lifestyle tips for eating, exercise, articles, myths (and truths) and anything health relate.

For all of you who live in very dry climates and sometimes feel that regular lotions and creams just aren’t cutting it for you (or if you have a dry skin condition like psoriasis, eczema or aging skin, muscle joints, etc), then here’s a tip! EMU OIL! Why emu oil? Its been used for thousands of years because of its anti-inflammatory properties and essential fatty acids.
I researched some products containing Emu Oil and here are my top finds:
Melie’s Salve: This product is really great. It’s 100% natural and preservative free and contains emu oil as its main ingredient. After using this product for a week, I’ve noticed that the red spots in my skin slowly faded and it left a smooth appearance. Also it’s fragrance free, which I love and it spreads easily and doesn’t leave skin feeling greasy. This is a fantastic product and it’s a good price also! ($6.50 for a 2oz jar!)
Pampered Diva Gifts: I love this line because all the products are handmade and au natural. This is a major plus when I buy my products because if you ever read ingredients that contain alcohol, it usually drys out skin.
The emu lotion is great for people who want the added benefits of emu oil without the greasyness. I have the strawberry-kiwi flavor and it smells great and is very fragrant!
The Mango Papaya body butter is a bit more heavy and stays on longer but leave skin feeling silky and smooth. Not to mention it moisturizes way better than regular body butters. This is probably due to the fact that the ingredients are all natural and there are no added alcohols. The thing I love about this product is that you don’t need much to moisturize and it leaves skin feeling very elastic, even after washing hands.
If you’ve got a product (natural) that you think is great for eczema, send it my way and I’ll test it out! Email me!
Seems like a cool concept, huh? It’s this even that my work hosts. We all gather at this bar and they have a stage set up with light boxes. There’s about 10 light boxes and people go up in turns and draw 8 index cards. So you take the last person’s drawing and add 8 more cards… in effect, continuing with their animation. Then at the end, someone scans the cards and makes it a short animation. It’s fun and you don’t have to be able to draw at all… heck, half the people there are drunk.
Here’s a pic from the event last night. Check this link for more pics.
Yup, that’s right. Seems to be the craze lately and if you’re like me and live in New York, it’s pretty much a necessity. Onesie pajamas are not only awesome looking, but they are super comfortable and let’s you relive the good ‘ol days when you were a kid. Pajama City has a ton of pajamas. I LOVE IT!
…. are just the best candy ever! It’s a shame that I never realized that the card store right downstairs from work sold Muddy Buddies (chocolate covered gummy bears) and Haribo Raspberries…. I will definitely be frequenting there more often.
Ok – so if you haven’t already caught on, then catch on now. PINK is everywhere – whether its for the cure for Breast Cancer or just for the sake of the oh-so loveable color, you can’t escape its wrath. Pink has been my favorite color since before I could even say pink. And I’m happy to see that this year has produced more pink gadgets that I know what to do with. Here are my top 10 favorites for this year:
1. The Pink DVD Player: Why buy a silver or black DVD player when you can buy a pink one from NextPlay? They are SO adorable and cheap. Unfortunately when I bought my DVD player, I called all over to find one and they were all sold out. If you get one, let me know… you’re a lucky lucky person.
2. The Pink Casio Exilim: So far, I only have a pink case for my camera. It’s also a 4.0 megapixel (meaning it’s ANCIENT). I want to upgrade to this one this year….. WOOHOO.
3. The Pink iPod Shuffle (exclusive to Walmart): And sold out, I might add. If you can’t get your hands on this, get a pink cover. Though, let me add – It’s just not as cool.
4. The Pink Tool Set: Your husband or boyfriend has a tool kit, so why shouldn’t you? And if you’re going to have to do the heavy dirty work around the house, you should be using something cute. End of story.
5. The Pink PS2: We all know that the PS2 is amazing, for the mere fact that you can play Guitar Hero on it…. and as of November, it’s coming out in PINK. Hallelujah!
6. The Pink KitchenAid: I love to cook and I love to cook on pink appliances. Amazing. Though I have pink pots and pans, a pink kettle and other small appliances, this one takes the cake!
7. The Pink George Foreman: Did George approve this? Maybe he created it for his daughter… oh wait, he had all boys. Well, then my friend, George, must be looking out for the ladies on this one.
8. The Pink Computer: Unlike my pink laptop, this one is actually colored pink, not just the case. Let me just say, this is one way to type in style. Thanks Sony. (Although, I am a fan of apple….. c’mon Steve Jobs, we want a pink computer!!!)
9. Pink Dyson Vacuum Cleaner: I love to clean. And now, I love to clean even more! The generic yellow vacuum cleaners are so tacky. Women out there, you should only agree to vacuum if your husband’s buy you a pink vacuum cleaner.
10. The Pink Coffeemaker: I was torn between the pink coffeemaker and the pink toaster. Then I realized that I drink WAY more coffee… and you probably do too, which is why this coffeemaker made the cut.
I know you’ve seen the infomercials for Bare Minerals makeup – I mean, who hasn’t? They play it over and over and over. Well like many people, I was very skeptical about purchasing another expensive piece of makeup that didn’t really do the trick. I needed some new concealer and in an effort to get out the rain yesterday, I took shelter in Sephora. I’ve tried Benefit’s concealer but it was too pasty and didn’t go on as smooth as I wanted it too. Then I bought Stila (comes in a tube) and I though that was too liquid-y and it made my face shiny in certain spots, then when I’d put on powder, it would just darken those spots.
Yesterday I tried Bare Minerals concealer and let me just say that it works! It goes on like a cream but beacause it’s a powder it is very smooth and easy to apply. It does a GREAT job covering it up any blemishes and it’s not messy at all. I have very dry skin and this did not make it look dry! 2 thumbs up! Highly Recommended!
During the summer, I’d visit Urban Outfitters about 3 or 4 times a week. It didn’t help that I lived 2 blocks away from the store. Now that I’ve moved and the Summer turned to Winter, I don’t go there that often… and when I do, I haven’t been able to find anything good! Needless to say, I browsed through the store yesterday and found this amazing cute long sleeved dress. It’s the perfect thing to wear to a Holiday party or Office party. Just pair it with some tights and boots and you’ve got a complete outfit!

There’s always something new to buy on Threadless.com. And recently, well 3 days ago to be exact, they just released some new designs. My favorite part about this website is that ANYONE can literally submit their ideas and win up to $2000 big bucks. On that note, not all Threadless shirts are cool. Some suck… really bad. I’ve looked through their current collection and decided to weed out the best from the worst.
5 Best Threadless Tees
1. It’s called Stick Figures in Peril and it rules. If you look closely, it’s actually stick figures and other random icons that make up this fantastic shirt. Anyway, I love a good skull and crossbones tee.
2. One Of These Days, We’ll Fly Away. I hope to fly away one day. I wish I could fly. This shirt reminds me of childhood when I wished I could fly away in a rocket. No, I take that back – I still wish I could fly away in a rocket.
4. I’m Sure I Used To Fit is the name of this clever tee. If you were born in the 80’s you’d know that every kid on the block had one of these! If I still had one, I’m sure I’d still try to fit in it…..
5. Love this shirt. The name is appropriate — In Case Of Fire. Hilarious.
5 Worst Threadless Tees
1. I’m a noun. Yes we know you’re a noun. You’re also a d-bag. Nice lame shirt!
2. This one is called Lions Are Smarter Than I Am. Rule # 74, never admit that an animal is smarter than you. It only makes you look even more dumb.
3. More More More! Did anyone else notice that this shirt was a total ripoff? If you read the tabloids at all, or exist somewhere on this planet, you’d know that Jessica Simpson wore a shirt with this saying just about everyday last year. It may be may have been a good shirt, but just because it’s ripped off someone else, I had to add it to the WORST SHIRTS category. Congratulations.
4. I agree, Sex Sells. But in this picture, sex does NOT sell. And if I saw someone wearing that shirt, my first though would be … wow, what a freak.
5. Mummy Cool… I just want to make clear that this shirt is not cool. Who would wear this? Maybe someone whose really lazy on Halloween…
So if you are a lover of old school music formats and just can’t get enough of the vinyl record disk, now here is something that let’s you put your records to a good use. Here’s an idea, throw a disco party and fill the bowls with snacks! But beware, the bowls aren’t dishwasher safe.
And if you are feeling creative, here’s how to make them:
What you will need: An old record, a oven safe bowl (no plastic!!, and a baking sheet.
1. Preheat oven to 200F. Place the bowl on the baking sheet and then put the record on top. Throw it in the oven.
2. Leave it in the oven for only about 5 min and keep an eye on it to make sure it doesnt melt too much!!!
3. Pull it out of the oven and start to mold the bowl with your hands. If its easier, place the record inside the bowl for a quick mold. Make sure you do this VERY quickly as the vinyl will cool down quickly.
4. Let the bowl sit and fully harden for about 10 min, then you are ready to throw your party!
