Travel for the Holidays in Style!
December 3, 20097 Must Have Thanksgiving Gadgets
November 24, 2009Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday and it’s right around the corner. YAY! These gadgets are sure to make your Thanksgiving dinner a definite hit. With these clever yet subtle accents to the dinner table such as the necktie napkins or the plate for the person “in-between” tables, they are sure to be a conversation starter and keep everyone in good spirits!
Dress For Dinner Napkins
Since most Thanksgiving celebrations start on Wednesday about 5 minutes after you leave work (hey… a 4 Day weekend… how often does that happen?) it might be a little rough to roll out of the sack when the dinner bell is rung on Thursday. Just tack one of these napkins under your unshaven chin and over your 2-Day Tee, pop on a Unabomber FBI custody sports jacket and you’re all set!

Plate For People Who Sit Between
Since you rolled out of bed drunk and slapped on that crappy tie, you’ll probably be rewarded with a seat at the awkward joining of mismatched tables. No worries! This plate automatically compensates for the difference in table height and gives you an edge over the other suckers who the host wishes would have stayed home… like the kids.
The Glass Tank
Now that you’re stuck in that awkward spot with no leg room and next to the kiddies, you won’t want to have to get up too often or reach to refill your drink. In fact, the less you have to interact with anyone, the better! That’s why this never ending wine glass comes in real handy. By the time you drain this beauty no one will even notice you haven’t asked for seconds.

Michael Kors has BAD Customer Service
November 10, 2009
I got my first pair of designer sunglasses for a gift last year – Michael Kors NEVIS in tortoise shell. I was super happy to get them, but noticed that they kept falling off my head and the ones at the store didn’t. I put them away because I did not want them to get lost. Finally I decided to take them back to see if they could be tightened and the store clerk told me that they were defected and I should return them to get a new pair. Because they are defected in the hinges, they are more suWhen I called emailed customer service, I kept getting transferred to different departments. Finally, someone from Marchon called me back and said that I would have to mail them back on my own dime, with tracking, and pay to get them fixed.
This is an outrage from a “high end” designer like Michael Kors. If I broke the glasses, then I can understand paying for them. Because I got them defected, that is their fault, not mine! How rude of them to ask me to pay to fix glasses that already cost about $100!
Does anyone else have bad customer service stories to share? Leave them in the comments below!

November 10, 2009I love to wear scarfs. I think it’s a great accessory to pull your outfit together while keeping your super cozy and warm, and we all know that I’m perpetually cold. I can’t wait to unpack all my stuff from storage and pull out the millions of scarfs that I own. Meanwhile, here are some pretty cute ones this season:
And another question: What is your FAVORITE way to wear a scarf? Do you tie it in a knot around your neck? Hang it over your shoulders? Let me know in the comments!

8 Great Holiday Gifts For Under $20
November 3, 2009The holidays are here (my favorite time of year) and with the holidays comes gift giving. Now, I love giving gifts but I also have to face the fact that we’re in a recession, so spending $50 bucks on a friend isn’t really realistic. Plus, you have coworkers and such. So I’ve compiled a list of the best gifts to give for under $20.
1. Lip Saver Roll by Korres ($15.60 with discount code)- This roll of Lip balm is nothing like you’re used to. I hate those annoying lip balms that smell bad, dry out your lips and come off easily. This is a real treat – since it’s made with shea butters, it offers hydration, a light tint and some shine to your lips. Not to mention the great scent -Remember too, Korres products are all natural, so you can be assured that this product is quality. Anyway, you can never have too many lip butters! (Also enter the keyword URBAN for a special 20% off discount until the end of November!)
2. Totally Bamboo Pineapple Cutting Board and Spreader ($18 for both) – This is for the friend or family member who love to entertain, or just loves to cook. This adorable Pineapple Cutting Board is only $15 and spreader is only $3! What a bargain. It’s great to serve cheese or fruit or for cutting smaller items. This is not only a great holiday gift, but also something that’s good to keep on hand for when you need a quick hostess gift or housewarming present. Also, did you know that Bamboo is 16% harder than maple so the board will last longer. It also has anti-microbial properties to repel bacteria. You get all of this while helping to keep the world green!
3. Frozen Hot Chocolate Mix From Serendipity ($16) – Who doesn’t love hot chocolate during the winter months? Well, this is a new spin – FROZEN Hot Chocolate! It’s absolutely amazing – ask anyone who’s visited the restaurant in New York. This rich, creamy hot chocolate beats anything you can get in the store and you can make it hot or cold. You decide!
4. 88 Piece Makeup Palette by Coastal Scents ($18.95) – Nope, that’s not a type. You do really get 88 super pigmented eyeshadow colors. What else could a girl need? Each color is about a dime size, but since they are super pigmented, you only need a touch of it. Great to travel with and will last a lifetime. Not to mention you can use them wet or dry.
5. Lambie Ballerina Slippers and Shea Butter Socks ($20 for both) – Pamper your feet this holiday season with Lambie Ballerina Slippers and a pair of Shea Butter Socks. These socks have shea butter infused in them to keep your feel silky and smooth, then wear the slippers around the house for even a softer luxurious feel while hanging out buy the fire or cookin’ up a yummy holiday meal!
6. Try me Shea by L’Occitane ($15) – With winter comes dryness and we all know that nothing is less sexy than dry, cracked skin. Which is why ‘Try Me Shea‘ is the perfect holiday gift. This luxurious gift bag comes with shower cream, lotion, hand cream, shampoo, conditioner, face soap and a travel pouch. Say buh-bye to dryness and hello Shea butter!
7. Aunt Sadie’s Holiday Candles ($18) - There is nothing that reminds me of a holiday more so than the fresh scented aroma of baking gingerbread cookies and cinnamon spice. Well, with Aunt Sadie’s Holiday Candles, you can replicate the smell to make your house smell great all holiday season!
8. Knitted Beret from Gap ($19.50) – Stay warm while doing your holiday shopping with a cute knitted beret from Gap. It’s stylish, warm and under $20. This makes a great gift for the friend who lives in cold weather or just loves to be outfitted from head to toe. Comes in 4 great colors.
Well that just about completes this year’s holiday gift guide for under $20. Is there something I missed or something that you’d love to receive for under $20? Leave it in the comments!
Snuggie for Dogs – FAIL!
October 16, 2009Snuggie is already a pretty ridiculous idea, but when you subject your dogs to wearing a Dog Snuggie? Well, now that’s just going overboard. They are dogs, not toys! Dogs have fur – they have their own built in ’snuggie’ if you will. Why would you subject them to having to put on another layer? That’s just wrong.
The point they make on the site is that it’s cold outside so your dog should be covered. Dogs don’t give a $%#& what the weather is like outside. They have fur to keep them warm. Their fur grows thicker in the winter because that’s just how amazing a dog’s body is. Oh and get this, each Dog Snuggie comes with a recordable dog tag, heaven forbid it runs away.
But like Jay Leno said, if the dog runs away, it’s probably because you put that ridiculous Snuggie on it! Shame on you!
Furnishing My Apartment, Step 1
September 15, 2009Not sure if everyone knew or not, but I am looking for my very first apartment on my own. Yup, that means no roommates – no dirty dishes that aren’t mine, no food disappearing without notice, no random strangers and late night parties… well the list goes ON and ON!
I found this great home decor site, Accent Furniture Direct and went crazy last night looking through all of their stuff. I’ve decided to purchase one thing off of their site for under $85 and if you check out the site, you’ll find that $85 goes a loooooong way.
Here are 4 of my favorite pieces of furniture. Yeah, so one of them is over budget, but I wanted you to see anyway. Which does everyone like the best? (click on the images to view the actual site)
August 26, 2009
I can’t really afford expensive sunglass – well I guess it’s not that I can’t afford them, it’s that I choose not to wear them because usually what ends up happening is that I break them or leave them somewhere. Still, a girl can dream, right?
I love that Macy’s has a guide to buying sunglasses. Based on the size and shape of your face, it suggessts different styles that would compliment your facial structure.
My favs are these by Marc Jacobs. And before you critisize me for my expensive taste, just know that I am currently wearing $5 knock off Ray Bans from Chinatown in NYC. Ha!
“My friend once told me that the size of a girl’s sunglasses are inversely proportionate to their personality. is that true?”
Ped Egg – for better or worse?
June 17, 2009Last winter my mom bought me a Ped Egg and since I was wearing boots most of the time, I did not need it. Come summer, I’ve been walking the hell out of my feet. I used this for the first time a few weeks ago and it’s amazing. Last night I even used it on my boyfriend and he loved it. I know, you’re thinking that the grater-ish bottom looks like it hurts, but it feel really good actually. Try it out for yourself!

Cutest F’ing swimsuits.
May 18, 2009..but you know that once you order them they will prob look nothing like the ad does. UGH Victoria’s Secret… I hate you and love you at the same time!

Gold at the end of the rainbow…
May 18, 2009I’ve always been obsessed with gold… (and pink).. but I was browsing the Coach store and I saw a few clutches that are literally to die for… or maybe to buy for. I dunno, you decide.

Hands Free Handbags, please!
May 8, 2009After owning so many over the shoulder handbags and being in many situations where they just keep falling off my shoulder, I’ve decided in becoming more practical for my everyday handbag use. Fossil has so many crossbody purses that keep you in style while being hands free. Plus check out the many pockets for all the extra storage use. Which one is your favorite?
Crocs are UGLY but COMFY
March 16, 2009I used to make fun of these crocs all the time. But let this be a lesson to everyone – don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. I got a pair of these (PINK) fuzzy crocs for Valentine’s Day and I must say that although they aren’t attractive by any standards, they are surly very comfortable. They feel like you’re walking on pillows. And most places have them on sale for around $20. What a bargain, if you ask me!
Hobo’s Wallets, Purses and things…
February 5, 2009How is it possible that I had not heard of Hobo purses/wallets/bags? I saw this sleek black wallet in Bloomies the other day and LOVE IT. It’s neat, shiny and not bulky. Plus the inside has a lot of compartments and has a cute pattern. The one I saw had black and white houndstooth, but I can’t find it online. Must find wallet.
Oh and I can’t forget about how cute and practical these clutches are!

31 Corn Lane’s totally handmade purses!
February 4, 2009
I just got this handmade purse by Indie Designers, 31 Corn Lane. It’s a small company started by 3 sisters and they make these adorable purses, totes and wallets. Inside, they are lined with bright eclectic material. I love this purse! Check below for an interview they did on Threadbanger.com.
Best Candles of the Year: TOCCA
January 27, 2009Tocca candles are to die for. I kid you not. I’m a huge candle addict. I recently bought a $25 Red Sangria candle from Banana Republic and was sadly disappointed that it burned through in a month and didn’t even smell good. My boyfriend buys cheap Glade candles, which also do not smell. So you can imagine how estatic I was when I received this Tocca candle and I could already smell it through the packaging and through the bag it was in.
The Test: I took it home and burned it and it had an overwhelming sweet smell that radiated throughout my entire apartment. Yma is my favorite because its sweet guava and currant smell is amazing, but I’m sure their other scents are just as great. Plus they are very affordable compared to my $25 Banana Republic candle. Try them…. I bet you will love them too!
Can’t choose just one? Opt for their gift set so you can try try their 4 most popular scents.Cleopatra, Grace, Havana and Kyoto.
Earmuffs, Ear Muffs, Ear Warmers.
January 21, 2009New York weather actually got to that point where I thought to myself, damn, I need some earmuffs. I’d been walking around with a beanie and hood, which restricted 100% of my peripheral vision. I know, they look totally dorky but I don’t really care. What’s your favorite style and kind?
1. Classic style, suede and on sale at Macy’s for $21! Not bad, but I have a feeling they’d mess up your hair and be annoying.
2. Boomers – Essentially the same style, however these come in funky bright colors and you can’t listen to music while staying warm! Score!
3. Shearling Earmuffs – Love these by J. Crew. Funky, fun and have the band on the top so they don’t get tangled with low ponytails or hoods.
HAPPY SOCKS GIVEAWAY!
December 8, 2008For this holiday season, especially those living in the cold winter, you can’t go wrong with giving them some socks! And who doesn’t like socks especially when they are brightly colored and designed? Thanks to HAPPY SOCKS, they are giving away 4 pairs of socks of YOUR CHOICE. I got a few pairs of these to test out earlier this month and I absolutely love them… in fact, I kid you not – I am wearing them right now.
All you have to do to win is leave a comment with why you deserve to win them and I will pick a winner by December 20th at 12 midnight. Good luck!
Happy Socks = Happy Feet
November 7, 2008Lately, I’ve been a sucker for a good pair of socks. I’ve really gotten into the trouser socks (as I like to call it) because they are thin, colorful and very comfy. Happy Socks is probably my favorite online place to buy socks. They are a company based in Sweden that have a million pairs (ok ok 100 pairs) of colorful and fun socks – not to mention they are very reasonable in price.
Their socks are made from 80% combed cotton which make them extra soft and they are made in Turkey and DO NOT use child labor. So that’s already a plus in my book!
Check out some of my favorites:
