I am attending the 2nd wedding this year and I literally have no dresses to wear. The first wedding I went to, I dug up and old $50 dress from a college party and wore that. I would wear the same dress again, only its the SAME people at this upcoming wedding – the band is even the same!
I saw this beautiful dress at White House Black Market (I love that store) but it’s about $200. WOW. Way too much for my casual self, who never wears dresses.
Here’s my question. If I buy this, is it something that’s classic enough that I can keep for years? And i mean YEARS? Or will it go out of style? I’d rather invest in something that I know I can wear over and over. Any ideas?

Just got back from the Carlos Miele Fashion show and I loved his collection. A lot of bright sparkly things, green and blues and RED RED RED. A lot of the models were wearing dresses that I would actually wear – cute tube dresses, long dresses – nothing too crazy, but very chic.
I really like how instead of a music track playing, he had an artist who was singing the entire time and actually interacted with the models. It gave the show a ver personable, friendly, fun feel.

Well this is my first post about NYC Fashion week. Though I live in New York and fashion is all around me, I choose to pay attention to only the things I like. I’m not a big fan of all the high fashion designers because I don’t think those clothes featured on the runways look good on anyone. Though, I do love this lace dress that Rachel Bilson is wearing by Zac Posen. Nice touch.
Here’s another observation, why does she always look so stunning in whatever she’s wearing???

My friend posted this dress on her blog, Fashion Smashion and while I do love the look of this dress, I am unable to bring myself to dropping $625 on it. Even if I did have the money lying around. There are way more things that I would prefer to buy – things that I need, such as new socks or food. But that’s just me. This is still a beautiful Vera Wang dress!

I happen to not be a poor college kid, and I happen to have a job – but despite the fact, I still love ramen. Not only because its cheap, but I just love the taste. One of my roommates in college taught me a new way to eat it – throw away the sauce pack it comes with, drain the water and add soy sauce. This got me thinking and soon I was putting butter and parmesan cheese and creating other concoctions. Then I saw this book, 101 Things to do with Ramen Noodles, and I thought, I must have it! What a great way to utilize such a cheap, popular staple in my diet to make a whole new array of dishes!

For my birthday this year, one of my present was a grill pan. I know – sound boring, but I guess that’s what you get when you get older and you really don’t want any more clutter or toys. I have been grilling up a storm this weekend and this past week with new ideas from the internet and cook books. This is was by far one of my favorite.
Grilled tomato, basil and mushroom skewers. Pretty yummy. And a pretty color!

This past weekend, my boyfriend Andrew and I set out to buy a record player. No, we’re not DJs, we just like music and it sounds a hell of a lot better on a record player. He works at Guitar Center so we checked out a bunch of turntables. Unfortunately buying a turntable brings on the issue of having to buy a mixer to control the volume, speakers, a needle and a bunch of cables to connect everything together.
We settled for this cheap, portable record player and it definitely gets the job done. It was only $50 bucks and it comes with speakers, a volume dial and a case. Although we had some Rockit speakers and they sounds even better. I absolutely love it. Then we headed down to St. Marks and picked up a bunch of used records for like $5 each! What a great deal!! (Except Herbie Hancock – that was only $3… !)
