I just put the finishing touches on this necklace display that I made. Handpainted and with a little help from Jared cutting the wood and screwing in the knobs. Now all I have to do is get some ribbon and staple gun that to the back so it can hang on the wall on a minimal nail, instead of screws.
I’m very happy with the way it turned out! And I love the colors.
I’m working on a new blog called Subject: Orange. The goal is to have tons of healthy lifestyle tips for eating, exercise, articles, myths (and truths) and anything health relate.
Check out the site and let me know what you think!
Oh, and if you’re a health/fitness guru and would like to be a contributer to the site, email me!
Ever since living and growing up in California, there has been on staple and that’s my rainbow sandals. I go through at least 2 pairs per year because let’s face it – I wear them year round – to parties, to class, to bars, to work (yes, I admit I had no dress shoes) and everywhere in between. I went on their website to order a new pair of flip flops and I saw ::gasp:: Ugg – inspired boots. What the hell!!! If this isn’t a sell out, then I don’t know what is.
I’m writing this post to clarify previous posts. I don’t preach about knowing everything there is to know about fashion. I can hardly name 10 top designers. Ok, 5. I don’t buy expensive clothes because I don’t make enough money for that. I buy knock-offs. Yes, I said it. Not exactly for the print, but because they are cheap. I have a very strong personality and this comes off in my posts. I’m honest and blunt. If I think the dress looks bad, I’m going to tell you. If I think you are too skinny, I’ll tell you that too.
I like to write, but I have one rule. And that’s that you let me write about whatever I want, wherever I want and whenever I want. If you want to write a bad comment because you have a different opinion than what I do, please go ahead. Just know that bad comments and negativity aren’t going to deter me from writing what I feel. Hope you have a nice day.
So as you may (or may not) know, my day job is working for Next New Networks and one of the shows I work on is Threadbanger.com. A few weeks ago, I got the honor to travel to San Francisco and help them out at the Renegade Craft Fair. As you know, I made my first hobo bag below. Anyway, here’s a wrap up of what happened at the show! Plus a look at some seriously awesome DIY indie designers!
I have been so fickle as to what I want for my bday. Really, there are a lot of things that I do want. But now I think I want this record player. I went to Guitar Center in Union Square the other day and I looked at a bunch of different record players. I like this one. Stanton T.60x. The only thing is that I’d have to get speakers, cables, a mixer, etc etc and it’s going to cost a fortune. I could get the ones with built in speakers, but I want to be able to blast my records. And NOTHING beats the sound of a clear crisp record player, right???
I’m not a big sewer. In fact, I usually get mad when I use a sewing machine and my projects end up half finished because I don’t have that much patience. However, this time I was determined to make something that I’d actually use. I got this fabric from GoodWill and made this lined tote bag. Not bad for my first bag, huh? The straps are all different materials since I kept making it longer and added a chaos stitching to make it look punk-ish.
Also, the lining is purple pin stripes with pockets. I am so proud of myself! What do you think?
Ever heard of the MBT Anti-shoe? It looks kinda funky bit its really great for you muscles, joints and back.
“MBT activates the whole body: Activates Neglected muscles; Improves posture and gait; Tones and shapes the body; Can help with back, hip, leg and foot problems; Can help with joint, muscle, ligament and tendon injuries; Reduces stress on knees and hip joints.”
They come in tennis-shoe looking shoes, sandals or these mary jane look alikes. I love these black shoes. They are subtle enough, yet are great for walking around the city (since I do so much walking). And they give my short 5′2″ frame a little height!!! I talked to my mom and I’m getting them for my birthday! YAAAAY! So excited!
I love these maxi dresses, but I have a problem. I’m only 5′2″ and every dress is super long on me. Why don’t they make these dresses short-people-friendly?
Any other short people out there have advice on how to wear these.. and not have to wear 5 inch heels? HELP!
Mascara is probably one of most important things in my makeup collection. My eyelashes are no more than 1.5 centimeters long at the most and my eyes don’t shine on their own. Therefore I resort to mascara.
There are so many brands on the market now and I’ve gone through about half of them, but needless to say, I think I’ve found the my favorite.. well my 2 favorites.
2. BADGal Lash by Benefit. $19 for the full size of $9 for the travel size (this is good for you if you don’t use mascara often.
*I also will note that I usually use a Clinique’s lash primer, just for the extra conditioning and to make sure my lashes don’t fall out too soon. hehe.
The other day I was waiting to go to a party and I was walking around union square and slipped into their sephora to buy an the eybrow kit, Brow Zings from Benefit (this is the best kit every, BTW). I started talking to the very helpful sales person and I ended up spending $150!
I didn’t know that you had to clean your makeup brushes every week! My makeup brushes were like 6 years old and every cleaned, but 2 times, hehe. So I vowed to be clean and bacteria free and bought this kit. It’s a great buy at only $44 bucks and you get the essentials. All I needed to by to accompany this was an eyeliner brush for $12. What a bargain. I urge you to clean your brushes often and if it’s been too long, just toss them. It’s not work the eye bacteria. EWW.
One of my favorite bands (I’ve seen them 6 times live) is Augustana. I used to work at their record label when they got signed so I’ve been a fan since there were only 4. Now that their sophomore album (Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt) is out, I had to buy it on itunes and needless to say, it’s growing on me. It showcases more vocals than the first one and it’s got a lot of piano. A good buy, I must say. So if you’re in the market for some rock music infused with soulful lyrics and catchy phrases, pick up this album.
*Listen to “Sweet and Low” and “Fire”… awesome songs.
Ever since I can remember, I have been giving advice. On anything and everything. When I was in college (sans boyfriend) fraternities would have me come and speak to them about relationships. Why? I don’t know. I guess I just liked to talk. And apparently I give funny and pretty fool proof advice with no frills.
More recently Bill Cammack and I have been posting about relationship advice from both male and female perspectives.
I'm a girl on the run from New York to L.A. bringing you the most stylish fashion and beauty tips from the sale rack to the designer rack and everything in between!
