Yessss! Dresses!

February 13, 2008

I love it when the weather shows a hint of a warm future and the dresses yet again, fill the store racks. I go shopping all wide-eyed like a kid in a candy store. I love dresses. They are so easy to wear, you don’t need to worry about coordinating your top and bottom and they can pull an outfit together without much effort. Plus they are really girly and after wearing nothing but jeans and a sweater all winter, I’m ready for that feeling again.

This dress is actually from Free People, but you can get it exclusively at Urban Outfitters Online. Oh yeah, and speaking of Free people, they just opened a store in Union Square (in Manhattan NY!). This is not good for my spending habits….

Valentine’s Day

February 12, 2008

So a question to all of you folks out there: For Valentine’s Day, are you supposed to exchange presents? Is only the guy supposed to get the girl something, or both?

I mean, I guess it’s old fashioned in a way, but my friend was telling me that it’s the guy’s day to celebrate his significant other. I don’t really think that’s fair for the guy though. But then, what do you get them? How much do you spend? A box of chocolates doesn’t really do the trick, though, I’d still like a box. Maybe a stuffed animal? I have no idea. Help!

And speaking of chocolates…. click here for a link to those delicious and amazing looking truffles from the Truffle Shop. They have a TON of other stuff too. YUM!

Sustainable Bamboo Tote-Bags

February 12, 2008

So we all know that over 1 million plastic bags are consumed (not eaten, used.) per minute in the world. Well, maybe you didn’t but now you do. So why not invest in a sustainable tote bag from Envirosax – you can save the plastic bags and be stylish when shopping. I really like these neutral colored bamboo bags. They are so cute yet not too bold. I want one! Bamboo is one of the most sustainable materials because it grows SUPER fast. Like a few feet a day. Wow. Not to mention its really soft and cozy and you’ll be helping the environment at the same time. And who doesn’t want to do that?

a geeky Valentines day shirt!

February 6, 2008

If you just can’t get enough of your significant other, here’s are shirts that will complete your entire relationship. It’s a dynamic life shirt that lights up in hearts when you’re close to each other and fades when you stray. Fantabulous idea! (Yes, I just made that word up!)

FutureFashion – A Sustainable Green Fashion Show!

February 5, 2008

fashion4.jpgLast week was Future Fashion, an all natural, fully sustainable eco-friendly fashion show put on by Earth Pledge in NYC. Though you may not associate high couture fashion with all natural and eco-friendly products, this may just give light to the whole “go green” image. Earth Pledge recruited hot designers such as Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein and more to donate their time and efforts to this event. Armed with only all natural and recycled materials, each designer set out to create the most fashion-forward, yet sustainable look.

It was a hit. And come Feb 21st you can actually buy the styles that were debuted at this show at Barneys! Woohoo! Also, if you’re looking for something that won’t break the bank, check out H&M – I hear they have a green collection that features items under $25 bucks. Yaaay!

Thanks to Threadbanger for this tip!

Valentines Day, Soy Candles

February 5, 2008

Maybe you remembered my previous post about Way Out Wax and how they are making environmentally friendly candles that are not only biodegradable, but made completely of soy wax, which makes for a cleaner and healthier environment at the same time. I’m a big fan of all things soy, especially wax. When I burn candles (and I burn them frequently, I love the fact that they don’t leave a black residue on the glass or a black smoke looming in your room once you’ve blown them out.

They’ve specially created a Valentines day soy candle for all you people who just can’t get enough of Valentine’s Day. As for me, I love pink and this would for sure match with my pink rug and bedspread, so I’d use it year round.

And still…. until the end of March, they’ve offered you guys a 15% discount if you use the coupon code, URBAN. Happy shopping!

…Because I knew you, I have been changed for WICKED!

February 1, 2008

wicked_logo.jpg

Last night I saw Wicked, the best play I’ve ever seen at the Gershwin Theatre with my mom, Tom and my boyfriend Andrew. It’s a bold statment, yes I know, BUT Wicked was amazing. Growing up as a little girl I used to adore Dorothy and Toto from the Wizard of Oz. In fact, I was Glinda for halloween a few years in a row! (Oh, how I miss that blue sparkly dress!) I would sit at home on the weekends and watched the worn out VHS tape of the Wizard of Oz that we’d taped off tv… commercials and all! Well… I never really understood or questioned why everything in Oz was the way that it was. I guess it didn’t matter back then. But now I started to wonder…why didn’t the scarecrow have a brain, the lion a coward and the tinman have no heart? Why were the witches like they were…good and evil, and the Wizard… powerless? And lastly, why did the monkeys have wings??? I guess we kind of just watched and understood… no questions asked.

Furthermore, when I was in college, my best friend and I sang the song, “For Good” for our sorority’s recruitment. Tears were shed, and I’ll never forget the memories… which is why (I guess) this play has a very special place in my heart!)

Well this Broadway musical answered every question and more. It was truly an inspiring play. I would see it over and over!!! If you haven’t seen it, I highly encourage you to!

(oh, and if you’d like to know more about my whereabouts, stuff I do in New York and things I review, check out my personal blog of my NY adventure at lindseychen.com. Cheers!)

Pink iPhone….not real (yet!)

February 1, 2008

pinkiphone.jpgYup, we all know that I had an iPhone. If you don’t, now you do. I lost it in a cab. I’m over it now (really!) and I have an awesome Blackberry Pearl and I do admit, I love LOVE LOVE brickbreaker, but alas, its time to move on and I want the red Blackberry Curve (hey! I’m picky, but I’m just being honest!). Well that is until I saw this…..pink iPhone. I know its totally photoshopped, but wouldn’t it be cool if they actually had a pink iPhone!?

Create Your Own Outfit with Polyvore!

February 1, 2008

Hey Everyone! Do you love looking in magazines or online and creating your own outfit? Or maybe you love a ton of different styles from different sites but want to know what they will look like together. I just found out about this great site called Polyvore. It’s awesome! It’s basically like creating a scrapbook or collage of you’re favorite stuff. You can pick and grab clothing, accessories, perfume, makeup, jewelry… ANYTHING from other sites, add them to your account and put together an outfit. It’s great to see what stuff will look like before you even purchase them. Plus, the site lets you add backgrounds, interact with other people and use clothing and pieces that other people have already imported. Check it out, you’ll love it!

I’m a HUGE gold fan, so I absolutely adore this outfit! Oh, and make that a skim latte, please!
