Pillow fights aren’t just for kids!

This weekend in Union Square, I witnessed the biggest pillow fight ever. Well maybe not ever, but it could be up in the runnings. I mean seriously, who still pillow fights? Apparently hundreds of people!!! For over an hour, I watched as people pummeled each other with pillows, feathers flying everywhere and some people even came out bruised and bleeding. Not to mention the clothing and outfits that were worn to this event – Winnie the Poo costumes, Superman, guys in underwear, etc etc.

Here are some memorable quotes from this Saturday:

Woman 1: Can someone just get a concussion already so we can stop this and go eat?

Woman 2: Well as long as its not one of our kids with the concussion.

Woman 1: No, they’ll probably be the ones giving other kids the concussion.

Guy (frantically running out of crowd): LET ME OUT OF HERE, I’m allergic to down!!!!

More real vintage clothing!

Iguana Vintage Clothing store is probably one of my favorites in Los Angeles. Besides their wide array of costumes, they also have some pretty cool (and reasonably priced) vintage clothes. They have everything imaginable from accessories, to clothes to shoes, to hats, jackets.. well, you get the point. Anyway, its much more fun if you are wearing actual vintage clothes, instead of newly inspired vintage clothes. It’s all about the ‘worn’ look which you can only get from truly ‘worn’ clothes! If you are in LA and have not been to Iguana, I suggest you check out the store and you won’t be disappointed!!!!

Lucite jewelry is making a comeback.

So get ready for the new jewelry trend and stock up on Lucite. What is Lucite? It’s basically plexiglass, which is a lightweight transparant thermoplastic resin. So why Lucite? Because it can be shaped into many different shapes, and boasts an array of bright colors – which makes Lucite perfect for the spring season. Not to mention, it makes your jewely highly sustainable from virtually anything — so no need to be cautious aroung this stuff!

Are aviators cool?

I think so. I have 2 pairs of aviators and I love ‘em. I never said I looked good in them but I just love the way they fit and better yet, they are so dark that no one can see my eyes, hehe.

But then I have to ask, is it all about the look? My roommates just bought a pair of “aviators” but not the standard ones… you know, the girly ones. (Excuse me, but what’s the point in buying them if you aren’t gonna buy the real thing?) Do looks matter that much? I know.. I write a fashion blog and fashion is everything, but I feel like for some things you just gotta have the right attitude and confidence to wear it. Who cares what you look like…. you can look like a badass wearing a freakin’ birthday hat as long as you have the right attitude.

Am I right? Or am I completely wrong?

Fashion Trend #3

They aren’t just any clutches…..

… They are daytime clutches! And how does that make them different from the usual clutches seen out at clubs and parties? They are bright, colorful, fun, and casual enough to sport on your daily errands. So girls, get ready to throw out the ton of junk that you carry around in your oversized purse and really don’t need anyway (and you all know what I’m talking about) because its all about consolidation… in a cute little clutch, of course.

Fashion trend #2 for this season… ROSETTES.

Yup folks, that’s right. Rosettes are going to be the new “in” of the season. Rosettes on dresses, blouses, pretty much anything can spice up an outfit. It gives the outfit a girly touch.. don’t you agree? Anyway, this dress is really cute… I think. Bloomingdales baby… Bloomingdales…

Yellow and Cobalt Blue

Here’s a trend for Spring 2007: Yellow and Cobalt Blue. Yup….. these high voltage colors are on the fashion radar and should be on yours too! And if you need something to pair these colors with, try some gold accessories to soften to hue.

Today everything from men’s shoes to their watches and the sunglasses they wear and the handbags they endorse, constitute the image of a man.

What Rolex?

A couple years ago they said that thick band watches that also acted like a alternative cutting edge piece of jewelry was just a fad. Boy were they wrong. And was I wrong, not to buy one. I still love these things. It gives a flare to your outfit, blue and yellow are great colors and this one is available exclusively online. So guys, forget about your Rolex and get in with the trend!

It’s all about the white denim.

We love white denim jackets. By we, I mean I. Because they go with everything. See the trend in posts today? It’s all white…. I really like the brightness and cleanliness vibe that the color white gives off. If you even consider white a color.

White Blackberry Pearl..

White accessories are becoming the new standard. (I think). For example this white, clean, sleek Blackberry Pearl. I saw someone carrying one of the these and it is just so much cuter than the black one. The white color only adds style to this already multi-functional and easy to use device. I am definitely investing in one of these next time around.

Beach anyone? Yes please!

So right about now, I am missing the beach. Yes…. lounging outside in the warm sand. How could you not. And if you bought a suit similar to this, that would make want to go out even MORE. This chic one piece white bathing suit is hot. And that’s a fact. It’s also only available online so don’t go looking for it in stores….And back to my point…. beach anyone?

Layers are for men too!

Here’s a tip for guys…. layer layer layer. It’s what fashion is all about. And you can take a cool military button up shirt like this one and layer a t-shirt underneath and still look stylish and chic. Sometimes I envy guys… SOMETIMES. Shoes really can make or break an outfit, don’t you agree? The good thing about shoes is that you could be wearing the most boring outfit, but with a great paid or shoes, you’re all set. I can be seen in a casual pair of kicks pretty much everyday, but on the weekends, its all about the heel. How fabulous are these shoes from Banana Republic?

February, won’t you be my Valentine?

I love Valentines Day (Sarcasm). But more power to you if you do like it. I just don’t get the point of showing your love for someone on this particular day, rather than just any other day. Nice try, Hallmark. Anyway, though I am not particular celebrating this day, I hope those of you who still believe in love are. And here are some things that would make a great addition to the day!

NYC Fashion Show: It’s a wrap!

Fashion week has officially been wrapped up in New York City. Though most of the trends weren’t drastically different from the previous years, there were some emerging trends that did pop up. Here are the must have items of the season.

MUST HAVE ITEMS: leather gloves (long and short), belts at the natural waist, opaque tights, a cropped jacket, many dresses (any and all), anything metallic.
